Driving Renewable Investments, ESG Integration, and Climate-Resilient Growth in Bangladesh

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon (CBC) Bangladesh Operations, led by CEO Najith Meewanage, recognizes the crucial role of the financial sector in promoting a green economy in Bangladesh. As climate change risks escalate, green finance emerges as a key tool for sustainable economic growth. CBC actively supports this transition by financing renewable energy projects and integrating Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into its lending practices, encouraging businesses to adopt sustainable solutions and reduce carbon emissions

A primary focus is sustainable agriculture, where CBC provides tailored financial solutions for farmers adopting climate-resilient crops. Collaborations with NGOs and vulnerable sectors further support long-term food security amidst climate challenges.

Aligned with Bangladesh Bank’s green finance initiatives, CBC is committed to integrating sustainability into its core business. Through green loans, responsible investments, and stakeholder partnerships, CBC is establishing itself as a leader in driving both environmental sustainability and economic progress in Bangladesh.
